What
Should I Expect?
The surgery is done in our office and
only takes about 10 minutes, but expect to be there for up
to one hour. Patients are able to drive themselves home. Generally
there is no follow up appointment required. You will be instructed
to drop off a sperm sample after 3-4 months. It's that simple. What
is a vasectomy?
A vasectomy is a safe and highly effective
form of permanent contraception for men. It is an operation
which interrupts the two passages which carry sperm away from
the testicles. Seminal fluid continues to be produced but
no longer contains sperm, eliminating the risk of pregnancy.
What is different about a No-Scalpel
Vasectomy?
No-Scalpel Vasectomy is a refined approach
for locating and blocking the passages (vas deferens) that
carry sperm. Developed in China in 1974, NSV relies on two
specialized instruments designed to make this procedure simpler
and safer to perform. Done through a tiny puncture rather
than through two incisions, skin stitches are not required.
The operation is done in the office and usually takes only
ten minutes to perform. A study comparing NSV to conventional
vasectomy showed a lower complication rate with NSV while
providing an equally high success rate. |
