DON’TS
Avoid these activities for 7 days:
- All forms of sexual activity
- Swimming, bathing or hot tubs
- Lifting more than 25 lb. (especially your children)
- Standing for more than 20 minutes at a time. (sitting or lying is best)
- REMEMBER … THE MORE YOU STAND, THE MORE THE RISK OF SWELLING AND PAIN,
because gravity causes fluid to collect in the healing tissues resulting in swelling.
TRY TO STAY OFF YOUR FEET!!!
Avoid these activities for 2 weeks:
- All forms of unnecessary heavy exertion including yard work, shoveling, home renovations and all sports, fitness training etc.
Patients often feel quite good after the first few days and think they can do more than they should. This frequently results in swelling and pain. Don’t go by how you feel!
